Day 51 of Lockdown

Having some UK countries lockdown, and some countries not lockdown is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.

When I was ill last year, one of the things that got me through was meditation.

Now, I'm not a believer in pseudo-science or general quackery, but the medical evidence backs up the benefits of mindfulness and meditation.

And, you know what? It works for me.

I was doing really well at it and as I recovered from my illness, I started missing sessions - I didn't have enough time to do it, etc., etc.

So I made time - lunchtime for 10 minutes while I'm WFH.

It gets me away from my PC, sitting in a comfortable position and gives me escapism for 10 minutes, and although I'm back to being pretty bad at concentrating for the full 10 minutes, I know that will come. It's totally accepted that your mind will wander off and think of other things, but as soon as you realise that, you just bring your attention back - and over time, the wandering gets less and less.

I recommend it to anyone, and let's face it, in lockdown, people probably have the odd 10 minutes to spare.

I use the Headspace app and website - I've bought a years' subscription and I think that's well worth the £50 for the benefits it brings me - try it free for two weeks! You do get quite a lot of hard-sell asking you to subscribe, but you in no way have to follow that advice!
