Quote Of The Day

The UK Intelligence Community should produce an assessment of potential Russian interference in the EU referendum...and an unclassified summary of it be published. - Intelligence and Security Committee

Russia Report

The Conservative Party are puppets of the Russian Federation.

The report, which was only held to minimise the damage to Boris Johnson's election, shows that the government didn't even ask the questions of Russian interference in political events like Brexit.

The government welcomed Russian oligarchs with open arms due to the investments they brought with them.

The committee said few questions if any were asked about the provenance of this considerable wealth, with particular issues around the UK's investment visa scheme, the housing market, the judicial system and PR firms.

They said: A lot of Russians with very close links to Putin who are well integrated into the UK business and social scene, are accepted because of their wealth.

The report said it had concerns about links between these wealthy Russians and the House of Lords.

It is notable that a number of members of the House of Lords have business interests linked to Russia, or work directly for major Russian companies linked to the Russian state, it read.

These relationships should be carefully scrutinised, given the potential for the Russian state to exploit them.

As Luke Harding from The Guardian says, Four years on we still don’t know the extent of Russian meddling in the referendum. Nor did we discover if it affected the outcome. The Leave.EU campaign – funded by the Bristol businessman Aaron Banks – claims the report exonerates their campaign, which included multiple meetings with the Russian ambassador in London. It doesn’t accuse or clear him; Banks makes a brief appearance in a footnote. The question of how deeply Moscow meddled cannot be answered because it was never asked, the ISC says. As the Scottish National party MP and ISC member Stewart Hosie said on Tuesday, nobody in government wished to go near the Russian meddling issue “with a 10ft barge pole” ...

Downing Street has said it will not do what the ISC wants. There will be no cross-Whitehall investigation of the EU referendum, it said after the report was released. This position is short-sighted: Putin is happy to support any political party if it suits his strategic purpose. In the absence of a Mueller-style inquiry, the debate over the legitimacy of the UK’s historic vote to leave the EU will rumble on. Neither side won a knockout blow on Tuesday. But the report fuels suspicion that the victorious Brexiters have something to hide, and will leave remainers feeling a little cheerier.

We need to vote these treasonous clowns out of government ASAP.
